(unknown image)Would you believe that I'm an Eagle Scout? I fear my fate is to become a tertiary character in a badly written cyberpunk novel. I'm friendly, upbeat and optimistic, except when I'm cynical, pessimistic and solitary. Some people don't get my jokes, but I'm not telling jokes for them--my specialty is gallows humor. I sometimes become obsessed, but I can also be fickle. I think I'm very moral, except in the terms of modern morals. I pick socio-political fights. I talk too much. I want more bookshelves. I haven't forgotten where I came from. I end sentences with prepositions just to piss off people with English degrees. I need an editor. I don't know when to give up--I've wasted to much blood, sweat and tears on lost causes.

My blog and livejournal strive to mimic each other.

Why I don't like government:
"To be GOVERNED is to be watched, inspected, spied upon, directed, law-driven, numbered, regulated, enrolled, indoctrinated, preached at, controlled, checked, estimated, valued, censured, commanded, by creatures who have neither the right nor the wisdom nor the virtue to do so. To be GOVERNED is to be at every operation, at every transaction noted, registered, counted, taxed, stamped, measured, numbered, assessed, licensed, authorized, admonished, prevented, forbidden, reformed, corrected, punished. It is, under pretext of public utility, and in the name of the general interest, to be place under contribution, drilled, fleeced, exploited, monopolized, extorted from, squeezed, hoaxed, robbed; then, at the slightest resistance, the first word of complaint, to be repressed, fined, vilified, harassed, hunted down, abused, clubbed, disarmed, bound, choked, imprisoned, judged, condemned, shot, deported, sacrificed, sold, betrayed; and to crown all, mocked, ridiculed, derided, outraged, dishonored. That is government; that is its justice; that is its morality." (P.-J. Proudhon, General Idea of the Revolution in the Nineteenth Century, translated by John Beverly Robinson (London: Freedom Press, 1923,NULL), pp. 293-294.)
